A Word on experiencing Hamlet by 10/26 (feel free to use NoFearShakespeare or watch any non-Kenneth Branaugh version of Hamlet):
other versions besides Branaugh version worth watching in rank order:
1) Royal Shakespeare Company Hamlet (2009) - 3 hrs so almost no cuts; Patrick Stewart as Claudius;
2) Mel Gibson's Hamlet (1990) - 2+ hrs, some subplots cut but a nice Gertrude & Hamlet;
3) Hamlet (2000) - Ethan Hawke, moderized version, under 2 hrs;
4) Hamlet (Russian version with subtitles based on Boris Pasternak; 1964) - can be quite useful to see a different cultural approach to Hamlet for IB orals and visually it is very well directed
5) Hamlet (1948) - Laurence Olivier, the classic melancoly view of Hamlet;
6) Hamlet (1964) - Richard Burton (the guy who played Becket) as Hamlet; a good Polonius;
7) there are others - Kevin Kline (1990); Campbell Scott (2000), Anthony Hopkins (1969)
